Kellion Awards

As part of National Diabetes Week, Diabetes Victoria held its Kellion Victory Medal Award Ceremony on the 11^th July. This award honours those who have lived with diabetes for more than 50 years, with one recipient acknowledged for 80 years! It was a wonderful ceremony, with some remarkable stories. Early days of very thick needles that were boiled and stored in methylated spirits were recalled. How times have changed! Whilst acknowledging difficulties associated with living with diabetes, these recipient’s stories were of achievement, and with great appreciation for their parents, partners and family for their tremendous support.
